#4 Apps & Tools for Dyslexia & Learning Disabilities

Apps and tools for individuals with dyslexia and learning disabilities are great way to support and provide as many opportunities as others. To further support those with learning disabilities there are a numerous of online tools and apps that can support a student’s education. It’s all about finding which tool works best for each individual!

Reading Tools
For individuals with dyslexia and learning disabilities, reading is the biggest struggle. For some, reading from a book will be easier and will only need extra help when it comes to defining the different letters and words. However, others benefit through mediums of audio in which they will be able to learn on their own terms. A tool called Claro PDF takes normal PDF documents and reads them aloud.

Writing Apps
Writing is another area in which individuals with learning disabilities can struggle with. Some individuals may present with a motor issues, or others may find it difficult to process information quickly, which then can increase the challenge of writing. Tools and apps are a great way to increase an individual’s writing skills. An app called Co:Writer is a great app that can be helpful due to its spelling assistance software. This app allows individuals to practice their phonic skills.

Hearing Systems
Hearing systems are a tool that can be used when working with individuals who have a hearing loss. Individuals with hearing loss should be offered and should receive the best learning experience possible. FM Systems are known for being the most effective since the signals maintain a certain sound level, without a loss in quality due to background noise.
