Podcast Alert: “Stuttering Since ‘02”

Podcasts have become a popular way to gain knowledge and perspective on a variety of topics. Fluency disorders can often have a socioemotional impact on a person’s life, with acceptance being an integral part of speech and language therapy. In this podcast, young adult Jared shares his perspective on the highs and lows related to his diagnosis of stuttering. In addition, he often features a variety of health professionals, friends and family members, as well as other individuals with fluency disorders. This podcast shows the lengths and depths of stuttering from a variety of personal, medical, and research-driven perspectives. Because fluency disorders are immensely varied and consist of a number of different treatment approaches, this podcast sheds a wildly personal yet extremely informative light on those with fluency disorders, therapists, and loved ones involved with these individuals. This podcast can serve as an excellent resource for individuals, parents, and medical professionals alike to gain insight into these disorders and learn about individualized experiences and tips to consider related to this diagnosis.

Be sure to check out Episode: 3 “ Mother Knows Best”, Episode 4: “Dad Adds His Insight and Encouragement”, Episode 5: “Brotherly Love”, and Episode 9: “A Grandparents Wisdom” for input from the entire family! These episodes are organized as joint discussions and provide both perspectives as someone who stutters and a family member of someone who stutters.
